About
Founder and Principal Consultant

Michael Brazil is a materials scientist who has spent four decades developing coatings and manufacturing processes that provide novel properties for commercial applications. His primary emphasis has been vacuum-deposited coatings, and he is considered an expert in reactive magnetron sputtering.
He established core technologies that enable the energy conservation of low-emissivity windows. His work has included the frontiers of electrochromic technology and the development of roll-to-roll processing methods for transparent conductors, flexible circuits, stealth coatings, and other applications.
He has designed and executed optical coatings ranging from triple-silver solar-control coatings to dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) filters with hundreds of layers. He has established quality-control methods for magnetic recording media and brought used vacuum systems into manufacturing for ion-beam deposition, sputtering, and electron-beam deposition.
As a Six Sigma Black Belt, he brings process-improvement experience alongside his materials and coating expertise.
